Burnham travelled to Tavistock and emerged winners after being given an early shock and found it difficult to raise themselves to the level that they achieved against Penryn, but saying that Tavistock, whilst being in a lowly position,do not concede many points and on their ground they make it very hard for teams to play to their true potential. From the start Tavistock hammered away at Burnham and after 10 minutes they collected a penalty goal,a drop goal, followed up by a try to lead 11-0.However from then on Burnham were able to stop the rot and force their way into the game, successfully gaining good possession, out to Chillingworth, reclcled to Tim Piper, who then handed off two defenders before scooting in under the posts and then converting.11-7.15 minutes later another Burnham attack gave Piper sufficient room to slot over a drop goal.11-10.Unfortunately Burnham blotted their copybook by not binding correctly, allowing Tavistock to pull away to 14-10.Burnham’s one saving grace was their ability to raise their game at crucial times and after pressurising Tavistock’s line,Stuart Blake pelled away fro a scrum to force his way over.Piper converted.14-17.On the stroke of halftime Burnham were adjudged to have committed a high tackle and Tavistock pulled level.Early into the second half Tavistock were penalised for not rolling away,17-20,and with fulltime looming,Burnham again won an important scrum giving skipper Blake time to pick up,draw the defense and create the space for Elisi Vunipola to take the pass and score under the posts.17-27.Job done.A difficult game for Burnham but they come through to maintain their quest for a high placed finish.Well done.Their is no match this week,Burnham’s next appearance is against Tiverton Sat 26th March at home 2-30pm kickoff.
