Today’s game was an interesting one to say the least with both teams unable to field a full XV. Therefore the game was played with 11v11 and Burnham lending 2 players to Bridgy in both halves of 30 minutes.

The game started as a bit of fun but it quickly moved into a serious game with both sides trading blows and on the 15 minute mark BoS were 15-7 up when, unfortunately, Barry New had a game ending knee injury. This left BoS with 10 v 11 for the remainder of the game and turned the league game into effectively a game of which team could remain the stronger. At half time BoS were 25-17 up.

BoS then gave Bridgy one of their potent players in Doug Caddick who turned out to be probably the best player for the opposition. On the stroke of ten minutes into the second half Scott Mills had an injury which restricted his playing ability. At that point BoS were effectively another player down as Scott wasn’t able to play at his full potential as he was severely hampered. That said the stags IIs kept at it and eventually ran out deserved winners.

A big thank you to the visitors for playing a competitive game but an even bigger pat on the back to Robert Leigh who played the full game for Bridgy and to Jamie Blyth and Doug Caddick who played a half each for the opposition and all were arguably Bridgys top performers. Finally, thanks to Jim Stanford for sponsoring the game.

Next week is the journey to Martock where a win would push the IIs up the table in preparation for the test of Winscombe before the Christmas break.  If there are any players out there who want to get involved then message Tim James and lets finish 2018 with two massive wins.
