On an overcast day in Bridgwater, Burnham 2s faced a strong side fielded by the orange, yellow and blacks. As a mark of respect to the recent passing of Bridgwater club stalwart Jack Smith a minutes silence was held. The game started with a flurry of exchanges in the from both sides it was Bridgwater that opened the scoring. Following a driving maul the lock broke through and popped to score in the corner. A 7 pointer. It was not long before burnham retaliated with great exploitation of the blind side from chunky Will Conway to release Connor Howard down the blind. It was made a 7 pointer from Will Conway. It was not long before Connor was back in the game again. Following a penalty captain Tim Piper set him off down the blind set off. Connor engaged the after burners. Tim kept with him and received the pass back to finish the move. Burnham had theirs tails up and a trundle by big Barry deep into the Bridgwater half forced Bridgwater to concede the penalty. Will Conway converted the kick. The rest of the half Bridgwater pressed but could not cross as a resilient burnham held strong. 17 to 7 at half time. Bridgwater made some changes and a spirited start by Bridgwater led to their centre finding a way through. However Burham knew that they were not going to win up front and started moving around the forwards and Ryan Beard scored under the posts. Once again Mr Conway made it 7. Both teams were inspired into action and some great exchanges took place with Bridgwater referring to type and trying to muscle there way through the middle. Burnham had to really look to their D to secure this fixture. Burnham against the run of play looked to score but a foot in touch denied Burnham a score. Bridgwater rallied yet they could not break through. A fantastic result for a team building something solid!
