Burnham travelled to the South Coast, searching for the 1 point to ensure their safety in this league for next season.Burnham kicked off with the advantage of the slope and led by 3-6 at the interval after a dour, but hard fought half.2penalties to 1,both kicked by Tim Piper.
In the second half ,with the advantage of the slope, pulled away, scoring 2 unconverted tries and 1 penalty. However, from then on Burnham shut the door and were eventually rewarded with a penalty on the stroke of time just outside the 22.
With everybodies nerves jangling, including supporters,a deathly hush descended on the ground.Up stepped Piper and coolly despatched the kick as though it was an everyday recurrence.
Subsequently,we found out that Bude had suffered a demise and Burnham survive with, technically a game in hand, but, nevertheless,as Burnham kicked off 20 minutes earlier,a combination of joy and relief was the order of the day.
