The first team game against Truro having been cancelled due to a frozen pitch an appreciative group took the trip across the Moors to Tor.

Burnham turned on the style in a convincing victory over Tor,outscoring them by 8 tries to 3.After 10 minutes they were awarded a penalty lineout,gathered in by Beard,excellent display at front of line,set up a rolling maul until Tim Piper broke away and scored out wide.0-5.Ten minutes later Burnham produced the same format,only this time choosing to go to the backs with Alex Watkins joining the line and tumbling over the line.Conway converted.0-12.Another 10 minutes later Tor hit back,releasing their speedy left winger ,who raced round the outside of Burnham’s defence to score under the posts.7-12.Just before half time Beard again claimed the lineout ball,out to the backs,whereupon Fear cut back towards the forwards,who recycled the ball giving Ryan Beardthe chance to wriggle over for a well deserved try.7-17.Almost immediately after halftime,Burnham again stole Tor’s lineout,popped up the ball to McKen to set off on a storming run almost to the posts before timing his pass to Piper to score.Conway converted.7-24.Burnham were now completely in command of the lineout so that another penalty lineout allowed them to fashion a convincing maul before Farrell Rogan slipped off the side and scored out wide.7-29.Straight from the kickoff Burnham set off, moving the ball between backs and forwards until Beard was able to put away Felix Grandfield to elude his opposite number and score under the posts.Conway dropgoal conversion.7-36.Burnham took a breather for a while,fetching 3 or 4 replacements on,so that everybody got a run out,once that was sorted normal servive was resumed with Marsh setting up a ruck enabling Havercroft to burst up the middle before finding a marauding Ed Lewis on his shoulder to dive over the line.7-41.5 minutes later Tor were awarded a penalty try after interference from Burnham in a scrum as they were closing in on the line.14-41.Immediately afterwards Burnham won a lineout,quick ball out to Brandon Pettitt,who scorched down the middle like a scalded cat,and scored under the posts.Sam Lewis converted.14-48.On the stroke of time Tor caught Burnham out with a telling cross kick,neatly gathered to finish off the game.21-48.Final score.

An exhilarating game to watch,with 11 tries,a credit to both sides.However Burnham’s superiority in the lineout and general pace,both mind and body secured them a comfortable win.Well done Burnham.Next weeks game are firsts team are awy to Wadebridge and second team are home to Midsomernorten John Piper
