Burnham travelled to Cornwall to face top of the table Truro and gave them a lesson in forward play.Right from the start Burnham harried and hussled their opponents and were rewarded with a penalty, which unfortunately hit the post, but the chasing players forced a 5 metre scrum. This set the tone of the game. What ever Truro tried Burnham were able to counter.Coles,Hocking and Streeter were too good for their opposite numbers,Rees and Blake provided the drive, backed up by McKen,Hocking T and Gowan.grafting away in defense to prevent any breakouts.Though neither side were able to cross the line Burnham led at halftime 6-3.For the first 30 minutes of the second half the game continued in the same way until,Burnham broke away with first Hocking M stealing the ball and then Piper,Vunipola,Blake,Muskett kept the ball moving along and gaining ground until Piper’s shrewd grubber kick enabled Brian Webb to score in the corner.6-14.Truro pegged Burnham back with a late panalty and even though Burnham had to endure 9 nerve wracking minutes of added time they came away desreved winners.Coach Vunipola said that he was delighted with the performance because of firstly a number of players were out of their normal positions and secondly that there arev still a few players to return.H e gave great credit to Stuart Blake for not only playing out of position but he set a great example in leading the team and was therefore man of the match.Every player did his job plus a little extra and he is convinced that Burnham will start to climb up the league.Well done Burnham. Burnham are away this Saturday to Devonport Services ko 3pm.
