Burnham at least managed to come away with a losing bonus point, but if the truth be known they could have come away with more. With the referee disallowing 2 Burnham tries and awarding Harlequins with a penalty try,Burnham alledgedly disrupting the scrum, the match should have had a much different outcome. For the first 20 minutes Burnham were in the ascendancy but unfortunately failed to capitalise on their efforts and just before halftime they were hit with a double whammy, firstly the penalty try and secondly Harlequins were awarded a penalty lineout, rumbled forward before whipping the ball down the line for the left winger to score in the corner.14-0.In the second half Burnham lost both Wall and Ed Lewis to injury thereby the ref sanctioned uncontested scrums, much to the disgust of Harlequins players and supporters,However Burnham came back with initially Tom Chaffey kicking a penalty and finally, breaking out from inside their own 22 with a storming, tackle breaking run from Rhino Wikiteria,Burnham’s backs had backed the play and were on hand toset up Russ Pike to score in the corner.14-8 Final score.A scrappy game, poorly controlled for both teams and if this is the standard of play at the top end of the league, then Burnham will by no means have anything to be worried about.
