Burnham lost a match that they should have won, especially with the amount of pressure and possession that they had in the first half and also they must sometimes relise that to slow the pace down can be to their advantage instead of frantically trying to keep the ball tight to the breakdown.Move the opposition around to create space, just as they did for their two tries.Exeter quickly opened the scoring with Burnham’s indiscipline let them down.0-3.Three minutes House carved a way through, only to find he was unsupported,Exeter turned over the ball and their pacy backs raced away to score under the posts.0-10.Burnham responded and after constant pressure and emphatic retention the ball was rapidly sent down the line to find Aaron”Tiny”Rees lurking amongst the backs where he was able to stretch his considerable frame to cross the line.5-10.For the next fifteen minutes Burnham were camped in Exeter’s half but unfortunately they could not convert the possession into points until eventually the ball was given to Richard””Kiwi””Muskett to roll through a couple of tackles to score close to the posts.Converted by Chillingworth.12-10.At last,we thought,Burnham can build on this but it was’nt to be because again almost immediately, again they were caught offside.12-13.Halftime.From the restart Burnham were encouraged by the emergence of the notorious vuvuzueala, but even this monstrosity was unable to drive them on.Burnham briefly snatched the lead after Exeter’s indiscretion,15-13 they succumbed to a well worked lineout move resulting in Exeter’s forwards rumbling over the line.15-20.Try as they might Burnham could not break the line and regretably white line fever took over thereby creating panic mode.Burnham must learn from this as their potential is far greater than this showing. With what is still basically a very young team and some day soon they are going to make somebody suffer.Burnham are away this coming Saturday to Kingsbridge, hopefully transport arranged,if so come along.PS Old Boys Reunion Sat.16th Oct.1..00pm
