Burnham continued their successful run of victories with what appeared to be a comfortable win. However somebody forgot to tell Torquay. For the first 25 minutes Torquay defended resolutely as well as occasionally making a foray into the Burnham half, but the strength of Burnham’s pack took it’s toll.Burnham were awarded a penalty and Tuttiett realising that Burnham had an overlap quickly sent the ball down the line to find a lurking Alan House in the left wing position, enabling him to round the last man and score close to the posts.Piper converted.7-0.For the rest of the half Burnham continued to press but in their haste conceded a penalty allowing Torquay to claim tyhe 3 points.half time 7-3.Burnham kept their foot on the pedal and were duly rewarded with two penalties, despatched by Piper.13-3.Having given themselves a little breathing space Burnham started to demonstrate their strength and tenacity until forever forcing Torquay backwards,in all aspects of the game,Hayden Tuttiett found the gap and shot through.20-3.Burnham were reduced to 14 but such was their control they caused Torquay to transgress allowing Piper to claim thye penalty 23-3.Shortly afterwards emphatic control and retention by Burnham, from one side to the other created sufficient space for Russ Pike to score in the corner.28-3.Into the last 2 minutes, after yet another penalty,Burnham’s solid lineout produced a strong driving maul for Mike Hocking to peel off and score out wide.33-3.Final score.Burnham so far this season have come up with all the answers for every occasion, even though Torquay gave them a run for their money, especially their outside centre, but Burnham’s fitness, strength and considerable skills saw them comfortably through at the end.Well done Burnham.Burnham are away to Okehampton this coming Saturday.Kickoff 2-30pm.
