Burnham continued with their winning form against lowly placed Tiverton, but make no mistake Tiverton are a much better team than their league position suggesta. They have a strong set of forwards and backs that can finish when given the opportunity and as the old adage says it takes two teams to make a good game, exactly what a good sized crowd were treated to.Burnham started like a rocket with possibly the fastest try seen at the BASC ground.Tiverton kicked off, caught by Gowan, out to Vunipola,on to a storming Webb, who timed his pass to Tim Piper to cruise in from 30 metres and then convert.7-0.Five minutes later Tiverton responded after Burnham had dropped the ball in midfield, picking up the bouncing ball and then sending their centre away to race in under the posts.7-7.Not content with that Tiverton secured good possession from a scrum and then with quick hands and a neatly executed miss move they were able to put their right winger in the corner and convert.7-14.For the next dozen minutes neither side could unlock the door until eventually Pike collected a clearing kick.set off, offloaded and after several pairs of hands had kept Burnham going forward Muskett timed his pass to find Russell Pike finishing off what he had started.14-14.Piper then duly obliged with two penalty goals to put Burnham ahead 20-14 at halftime.Burnham kept up the pressure and after providing quality from the base of the scrum Vunipola, showing his former international class, deftly performed a runaround move and then putting Pike into the gap to score his second try.27-14.Not long after Vunipola again showed his true ability by delaying the pass to enable Kiwi Muskett to drift into the gap, successfully evading two defenders, and run in under the posts. 34-14. By this time the Burnham faithful were beginning to think of a big winning margin but, somebody forgot to tell Tiverton, because following two or three phases they set up a rolling maul that Burnham were unable to prevent.34-21.Burnham then hammered away at Tiverton until eventually after three attempts at penalty lineouts Burnham were able to generate sufficient for Alan House to drive over.41-21.However Tiverton gained just reward by reciprocating Burnham’s try by performing their own catch and drive thereby securing a bonus point.41-28.A thoroughly entertaining game with full commitment from both sides proving that when both teams play well rugby football is the big winner. This week Burnham entertain Somerset rivals Wellington 3.00pm kickoff.
