Burnham faced a side in the upper half of the league knowing that they needed to win to help ease their relegation fears and,boy, didn’t they come up trumps,not only winning,but scoring six tries in the process.Nowhere was there a man shirking a challenge.Right from the start Burnham showed their intentions creating early so that Burnham’s marauding backs were able to finish the move off with Jordan Paul ghosting through in the outside centre position to cross the line.5-0.Shotrly afterwards Chosen Hill showed why they are in the top half when Burnham were penalisedfor a ruck indiscretion allowing CH to take a penalty lineout and create a well organised rolling maul and score out wide.5-7.20 minutes later they produced a carbon copy of their first try to move significantly ahead.5-14.However,Burnham do not lie down for any one these days and on the stroke of halftime following a good scrum Dickens whipped the ball out to Piper to time sweetly executed reverse pass to Richard Muskett to score close to the posts.Piper converted.12-14.In the second half Burnham were awarded a penalty enabling Piper,with the wind behind,to move Burnham ahead.15-14.15 minutes later,CH scored their third try,after another penalty lineout,with a rolling maul.15-19.Straight from the kickoff Burnham harried CH into a poor clearing kick,claimed the lineout,produced 3 successful phases before switching back for Paul to time his pass to put Ben Gibb through.Piper converted22-19.Burnham now had the bit between their teeth and rampaging forward at every opportunity with great interplay between McKechan and Wikiteria before releasingMuskett to record his second try in the corner.Piper converted.29-19.Burnham were now in total control and following a strong run by Astle,one for the future,Burnham recyclede the ball before Muskett popped up a quick pass to Tim Piper to score under the posts and then convert.36-19.Following a CH penalty lineout,Burnham claimed a turnover sending Wikiteria on a charge before releasing the backs who created an overlap for Gibb to score his second try.Piperconverted.43-19.Chosen Hill scored a compensatery try as Burnham relaxed on the strok of halftime.Final score 43-26.A much appreciative,happy band of supporters were treated to a scintillating performance from Burnham and whilst the backs claimed all thae glory,it was the forwards who eventually ran their opponents ragged.AQ fine team performance.Well done Burnham.Burnham’s next match is away to league leaders Coney Hill on Saturday 11th April kickoff 3pm.Whose to say what will happen.
