BURNHAM-ON-SEA took a break from league duty to book themselves a place in the Somerset Vase final, courtesy of an emphatic win over Bridgwater side Morganians on Saturday.
Jude Donnelly burst over for the opening try, and although Morganians cut the lead to 5-3 with a penalty, that’s as close as it got.
Richard Muskett and James Havercroft stretched the Stags’ advantage to 19-3 with two more tries, both converted by Tim Piper.

Further tries from Will Hopkins, Sam Wall and Chris Warner – all converted – gave Burnham an imposing 40-3 lead going into the break.
Morganians hit back with a converted try of their own come the start of the second half, but it was business as usual after that.
A 40m break by Piper set up Josh Holder for the Stags’ seventh try of the afternoon, again converted, and that was followed by scores from Muskett, Ryan Beard and Alex Watkins.
Piper converted nine of the 10 tries on the day.

Burnham’s opponents in the final are yet to be determined, with the Chard versus Oldfield Old Boys semi-final still to be played.
The Stags return to league action this Saturday, with the Somerset Premier leaders hosting fourth-placed (and potential Vase final opponents) Oldfield Old Boys.
The 2nd XV are at home to Tor 2nds in Somerset 2 South, and both games are scheduled to start at 2.30pm
