A disappointing day for Burnham after recent results had given them hope that they colud improve their position in the league. Not to be.For the first hour allowed Cheltenham to play and perform to their own plan, which was to suck Burnham in on one side of the pitch and then release their backs, who always seemed to have an overlap, thereby scoring tries in the process, all unconverted,to lead 20-0.At last after a couple of good penalty lineouts Burnham were able to produce a driving maul enabling Jordyn Wikiteria to claim the try.Twelve minutes later Jordan Paul cleanly took Cheltenham’s clearing kick, set off on a powerful jinking run, almost making the line, however this appeared to light the blue touch paper and first through Piper and then down the line for Josh Holder to score out wide,Successfully converted by Tom Chaffey.20-12.In the dying minutes Burnham were pressing hard but in their eagerness to reduce the decifit even further they wer turned over close to Cheltenham’s line, out to their standoff, who sold two dummies, raced to the halfway line before releasing his winger to score and then convert .27-12.Game over.Head coach Graham Buller said he was frustrated of the lack of consistency, cohesion and comprehesion of pre-set game plan.Burnham have got the ability, but have to realise that they need to play for the whole game.Goon news Richard Muskett came on as a replacement, after being out for two months, and made an immediate impact,Good to see him back.Next week Burnham are a] host to Old Bristolians and b]welcome their Old Boys Reunion Lunch. If you want to come please contact Charlotte Gaylard so that she can make sure of catering arrangements.
