On a very windy day at Stroud Burnham came up against a strong Stroud side in good form.
Burnham playing with the wind in the first half started quickly and won a penalty close to the posts which Will Conway converted. This seemed to spark Stroud into action who began to run and carry the ball with purpose and made inroads into the Burnham defence. Burnham defended bravely until after 15 minutes Stroud were rewarded with a well created try close to the Burnham posts. Burnham scored next when Henry Bigwood ran in a try into the corner from the opposition 10 metre line. Burnham continued to play the game in the opposition half but were all too often guilty of giving the ball away much too easily. Stroud were then awarded a penalty which they converted. Followed by a very well constructed try that involved good running and passing.
With Stroud leading 17-8 at half-time and with Burnham having to re arrange their side due to injuries to Matt Fear,Dan Spellman and Richard Muskett it was always going to a uphill struggle against the wind.
Stroud scored another 4 tries in the second half and Burnham scored a converted try when Jordyn Wiketeria drove over from close range, but the game was really lost in the first half.
Prop Jamie Safar made his first start and Tom Walll came on as replacement both fared well in a very difficult game.
