TOR 2nd XV – 29 BOS 2nd XV – 19
Burnham seconds travelled accros the Somerset Levels looking to make amends on last weeks disappointing result at home to Taunton.
Captain, Matt Slater, had a full squad at his disposal with the return of Matt Bonell and Ben Gibb, who were both on other duties last season.
Burnham started the game by pinning Tor in there own half for the first 10 mins with good disipline at the game line. Tor managed to clear there lines and push Burnham bck in there own half resulting in the Tor number 9sqirming his way through several tackles to score under the posts. Try converted 7-0.
Burnham replied immediatley by winninga Tor lin out which was swiftly passed through the backs to Will Conway who darted over the try line. Converted by Alex Bowkett 7-7.
Unfortunatley Burnham were caught napping at the kick off andknocked the ball on, resulting in a Tor scrum. Tor kept possession and forced a line out which resulted in a push over unconverted try. 12-7. Burnham replied some 10 minutes later with Bonell breaking from the back of a ruck and forcing his way over. Convertd by Bowkett 12-14 Half Time score.
In the second half the experience of the Tor forwards was to much for the young inexperienced Burnham pack with several driving mauls allowing Tor to gain plenty of teritory. Poor disipline at the breakdown by Burnham provided Tor with tap penalties from within 10m of the try line which they managed to score three identical tries by the same forward. Burnham manged to pull another try back with some quick ball from Berry through the backs to Ben Gibb who scored in the far corner, Try unconverted.
Poor tackling, fitness and inexperience let the Burnham side down. They must learn to play to there advantages of youth and speed, and try not wrestle with experienced forwards. This forthcoming Saturday the 2nds entertain Crewkerne at home with a 3.00pm KO.
