Burnham 2nd XV – 7    Crewkerne 1st XV – 48

With the home side looking to improve on last weeks performance, Captain Matt Slater, had acquired himself several returning players from last season in the names of Podge Barrington, Richard Welland, Tiny, Manny and Glenn Cutter assisted by the help of 1st team players Bobby Hewlett, Lloyd Steward and George Scott.
What was thought to be a strong home side, which turned out not to be the case the home side found themselves three tries down after the first 15 minutes.

Burnham bagan to settle down for the next 10 minutes but were unfortunately outscrummaged by the visiting pack and could not gain any momentum when ball in hand. The home side did manage to score before the half time whistle with Lloyd Steward collecting the ball at the back of a ruck 1m from the try line and forcing his way over which was gladly converted by Will Conway.

Half time score of 26-7.

The second half display by the home side was much improved but it was clearly visiable that the visitors were well drilled and stuck to there game plan by running in another four tries and one conversion. One thing that didnt change was Burnhams spirit and at no point during the game did there heads drop which was well respected by the visitors.

It has become evident that the Burnham 2nd XV will continue to find it difficult in the Somerset 2 south this season through recent lack of traning as a team and not be aggressive enough at the breakdowns.
This Saturday they travel to Martock with a KO at 3.00pm.

Burnham Rusty Antlers will be dusting off there boots on Saturday 6th October with a friendly fixture against Imperial RFC at the BASC at 2.00pm followed by the 1st XV v Barton Hill at 3.00pm.
