Local derby’s are always a good match to watch. With both sides putting out strong sides, an injury in the first few minutes to Jack Sealey, meant that Tom Stevens came on to replace him. Burnham were first to cross the try line with an amazing escape from Will who came up the right hand side of the pitch to score. With the strong wind against Burnham the try was not converted. Pethy retaliated with a fast try and convereted with ease. Burnham didn’t falter and quickly got some pace back with some amazing passes from the likes of Mike Edwards, Lee and Ryan, everyone worked as a team and managed to score another try from Ginge, sadly unconverted. Not to be out done Pethy then scored a try and convereted it. With strong work from the front row, Burnham managed to hold of Pethy, until both teams had a player sent off! Pethy then scored just before half time to bring the score 10-21.
After strong words from skipper Matt Slater, Burnham came out ready to win back the game. Some amazing moves managed to keep Pethy away from their try line. With some great team work Rob Lewis managed to land under the post to score and with the wind now helping, Dave converted to keep the game alive. Burnham managed to keep the ball in their half for most of the second half, they couldn’t get the winning try that they needed. With 5 minutes to go, both teams were down to 14 men . Skipper Matt Slater commented on the skill and amazing teamwork of all the team. With 5 league matches to go, lets try and win them and finish the season on a high.
