A disappointing result for Burnham caused mostly by poor decision making made even more frustrating by the fact that when Burnham exerted themselves they were able to produce some exciting rugby, but lets not take away anything from Barton Hill,a strong, well drilled outfit.Burnham elected to play against the wind, but unfortunately after 12 minutes were caught deep into their territory and following a poor clearance kick,Barton Hill gathered in and set up a couple of phases before their huge second row crashed over.0-7.Burnham hit straight back and took a quick tap penalty to skipper Blake, recycled out to Tim Piper who demonstrated his skill with a smart handoff followed by a dummy enabling him to create the gap and scoot in under the posts  and then convert.7-7.Five minutes later Piper picked up a loose ball, feinted to kick, jinked forward before spinning the ball out to Rees who then released Matt Love to speed away and score in the corner, but in doing so landed awkwardly and damaged his arm, subsequently found to be broken.12-7.Not to be denied Barton Hill secured possession after Burnham dropped a wet slippery allowing the scrum half to dart over.12-14.Halftime.With the wind now behind the faithful supporters expected Burnham to capitalise but for the next twenty minutes Burnham seemed to lose their way conceding two converted tries and a penalty goal and then followed by a breakaway try by their right winger to move the score on to 12-36.However Burnham did have the last say with a quick tap penalty to Jordan Paul who demonstrated his pace and agility in a mazy run across the field to score in the corner,Piper converting.19-36 Final score. We can only hope that Burnham will learn from this and take note that they showed at times that were as good as their opponents. No match this week,Burnham’s next match is against Whitehall at home on the 2nd October 3pm kickoff.
