Home to local rival Bridgwater, Burnham started the game where they left off against Midsommer Norton last week, having put 67 points on the board. Midsommer Norton did not cross the Burnham line.
It was the first tackle by Sam Wall on the Bridgwater lock as he received the kick off that dictated the intent of Burnham’s  game. He was firmly stopped in his tracks.
The Burnham forwards had to supply a platform to allow the backs to play and they duly delivered. Burnham were not going to win an arm wrestle with the Bridgwater pack. However Burnham were able to supply consistent quality ball from the set piece to put centres Mason Shaw and Will Astill into the game. It was this pressure that got Burnham into a good field position on the Bridgwater five metre line.  Bridgwater won their scrum but Tim Piper scragged their No. 8 as he decided to pick up, drove him back over the line, bounced him off the posts and managed to take the ball from him and ground it.  Will Conway added the extras.
It was not long before man of the match Sam Wall was influencing the game again as he gathered the Burnham kick off and made a dash for the line. Thwarted this time by some resilient defence, but on his next run he received an offload to beat three defenders to ground his try.
Burnham were not going to have it all their own way. Bridgwater had two weapons, Bridgwater had their driving maul and a hard running No. 10.  They used the driving maul to claim two tries. It would have been more but some great defensive work from the Burnham pack especially Matt Fear prevented Bridgwater spoiling the party.
After half time it was Bridgwater who struck first with their singing fly half breaking a number of tackles to cross the line. But the rest of the half belonged to Burnham as they played their brand of rugby to please the assembled supporters with four more tries.  Mason Shaw was the first as he created carnage in midfield with his strong direct running. Fly Half Will Conway added a try to his four conversions. Nick McKen came on and he opened up the play with a bullish run up the centre of the park. The ball was quickly recycled and the move was finished out by flyer Brandon Pettitt.  Finally some neat footwork backed up at least two hard tackles by Ben Gibb to cross the line.
This finished out a thoroughly entertaining game.
Excellent result Burnham.
The next game is away to Hornets on 19th April.
