Burnham continued their poor start to the season with a disappointing display against a well organised side and to make matters worse Burnham added to their ever growing list of injured players.Burnham are currently  their own worst enemy in selecting the wrong option when faced with a little bit of pressure and after 10 minutes a poor clearing kick allowed Newent to attack on the front foot providing the right winger to evade ineffectual tackling and score out wide.0-7.Ten minutes later Burnham were penalised for not releasing inside their 22.0-10.On the stroke of halftime Newent’s spell of offense lured Burnham into positional disarray thereby creating an overlap for their flanker to score out wide.0-15.Burnham startede the second half in a more determinede mode and after a rare clean lineout take they produced three good phases, followed by Pike’s astute kick forward, enabling Jordan Paul to judge the bounce and score in the corner.5-15.Unfortunately Newent responded with a good lineout to produce a neat move amongst their backs, creating enough space for the fullback to score in the corner.5-22.Newent kept up their intensity but, fortunately Ross Babbington intercepted a pass deep inside his own 22 to outpace the defence and score under the posts.Piper converted.12-22.This lifted Burnham to the extent of producing their best spell in the match but to no avail.Hopefully Burnham can recover from these injuries and with the Seconds doing wonderfully well, they will be able to return to winning ways.
