Burnham despatched any thoughts on their defeat against North Petherton with an emphatic win over Bude.Right from the start Burnham attacked at every opportunity and continued to do so throughout the match.Within five minutes Burnham opened the scoring by delivering quality possession from the lineout,out to Webb to punch a hole in the centre and then quickly recycled to switch the other way enabling Jordan Paul to stroll over in the corner.5-0.Bude kept Burnham out for the next 20 minutes,but paid the penalty of firstly kicking the ball back to Paul,who relished the situation,regained the gain line,Burnham recycled through many hands to Bonell,just stopped short,the pack swiftly followed up releasing the ball for Piper to slip an inside pass to Alan House.Piper converted.12-0.After 40 minutes Bude were still hanging on but two successive penalties,taken as scrums,out to Webb,retained for another Piper House combination.19-0.Now into injury time burnham’s good defence produced turnover ball setting up a strong,pacy run by Spelman,reset through the phases for Alan House picked the gap to record his first ever hat trick for the club.26-0.Halftime.Having secured the bonus point Burnham then really turned up the heat for the second period forcing Bude into a poor clearance kick,ran back by Tuttiet,again recycled swiftly by the pack,out to Webb who was stopped just short but an alert Sam Chillingworth pounced to score in the corner.31-0.Ten minutes later a quick tap by Hayden Tuttiet fed Spelman on the rampage before returning to Tuttiet to score out wide.36-0.Shortly afterwards a cleanly won scrum provided the opportunity for Vunipola to execute a miss move for Piper to put Paul into sufficient space to show his manoeuvrability and speed,power through the gap and score close to.43-0.Next the forwards yet again supplied top lineout ball,down the line,reset to switch back so that Russell Pike could cut inside his man to score under the posts.50-0.From the restart Burnham gained possession for Tuttiet to kick ahead,Bude winger gathered but was pressurised by House and Stuart Blake,who then picked up and gained the line.55-0.Burnham were now in full flight and after another quickly taken penalty,followed by two formative phases,Sam Coles bulldozed his way over.62-0.Bude were unable to find any respite and after Paul spectacular retrieval,he sent Chillingworth off on a thrilling mazy run,handing off and jinking his way through to the line,converted by skipper Blake.69-0.To round it all off Burnham attacked from deep inside their own half eventually for Pike to capitalise on a kick ahead.74-0.Whilst Bude may not have been stern opposition it has to be said that Burnham playing the game at pace a hard act to handle at any time with both forwards and backs interlinking and supporting the ball carrier.With Burnham’s very young squad,with one or two exceptions,the Burnham faithful supporters have some good times to look forward to.Well done Burnham.This coming Saturday Burnham travel to Okehampton,kickoff 2-30pm.Coach leaves Burnham at 11-30am.
