Burnham travelled to Devon to play against an in form Okehampton side and found out the reason why.Okehampton’s defence was sound and well marshalled and they took what little opportunity that came their way.Unfortunately Burnham didn’t,too many dropped passes and too many poor passes cost Burnham attacking chances.Burnham were caught napping right from the start, gave away a quick penalty, swiftly taken, grubber kick through misjudged by Piper allowing Okehampton’s full back to gather and score under the posts.7-0.For the rest of the half neither side could find a way through but Burnham’s poor discipline cost them another six points.Halftime 13-0.Burnham reduced the deficit with a Piper penalty,13-3,only for Okehampton to pressure Burnham into conceding a drop goal.16-3.From then on B urnham really started to come into their own, firstly penalising Okehampton for preventing fair release,16-6,and then with a smart move from the base of a good scrum to create enough room for Elisi Vunipola to go round behind the sticks.16-13.However this was the end result and on reflection, perhaps the deserved result. Not a bad performance from Burnham as it was a good hard game to watch. This Saturday Burnham travel to Tiverton kick off 2-30pm.There will be a coach leaving at 12 midday.
