Burnham continued with their lack of form against Tiverton, partly through key players injured or unable to play because of work commitments, but even so they still had sufficient fire power to have seen off their opponents. They started well enough and after ten minutes scored a well constructed try, firstly with a well controlled scrum followed by a smart back move creating space for Hayden Tuttiet to score in the corner.Tiverton came back and after successfully securing a lineout, following a penalty, they drove over to move ahead 7-5.In the second half Burnham appeared to shake off the lethargy and after some concerted pressure they set up Phil Hobbs to peel off the rolling maul and force his way over.Piper converted.7-12.This was quickly followed by a Piper penalty.7-15.Unfortunately Tiverton didn’t read the script and crossed Burnham’s line twice to run out the winners.17-15.Burnham must learn that being in front is not enough and remember that they have done it before,in closing out the game, against teams that are much higher placed. This week Burnham are at home to Penryn, kickoff 2-30pm.Let’s hope for a more committed performance.
