Burnham stretched their winning run to five with a well deserved victory against a side that had also enjoyed a winning run,but Burnham’s never say die attitude won the day. With neither team prepared to give an inch,Cirencester struck the early blows with a couple of penalties,6-0,however all this did was strengthen Burnham’s resolve even more and before halftime they took the lead with firstly,a penalty from Piper after a late tackle on Webb, followed up by a pushover try,Touched down by skipper Stuart Blake, after a period of concerted pressure.6-8 Halftime.Burnham immediately increased their lead with another penalty, only for Cirencester to respond with two of their own to retake the lead.12-11.For the next twenty five minutes Burnham tried everything they could only to be thwarted by Cirencester’s stout resistance, until finally with two minutes to go Burnham were awarded a penalty within range and Piper coolly obliged 12-14.A hard fought battle that was a credit to both clubs and also to rugby football.Well done Burnham.Burnham are at home this Saturday to table toppers Chard.Kickoff 2-30pm.Be there.
