Under the watch of stand in skipper Jake Allen, Burnham took the game to home team. Jake Allen interlinked well with scrum half Mike Nash who broke a couple of tackles to go in under the posts. Jake Harding who had relinquished his No. 9 shirt to Nash for the No. 10 shirt duely converted. Not to rest on their laurels Burnham continued in the same vain and Frome could not live with their neat off loading game and Mike Nash went over again out wide. This time Harding missed his kick at goal. Shortly after this the team were joined by Tom Stevens who made the numbers up to fourteen.
At this point Frome woke up and their heavier pack started to dominate at the set piece and they put this to good effect at the line out where they duely followed up the secure catch with a maul and rumbled over the line.
However Fromes ill discipline let Burnham get back into the game and they made good yards back into Frome territory where Ash Tucker cut a good line to go close to the posts to allow Harding to convert.
Before half time Frome hit back with their No. 10 scampering over.
At the turn around, Burnham not only showed their superior fitness but also good discipline and with a Frome player sinned binned, the subsequent penalty saw Burnham kick deep into the corner. Mike Edwards secured the ball and Jake Harding received clean ball to allow Ash Tucker to complete a running line to go over with an ‘Ash Splash’.
Frome continued to show their frustration that the game was not going their way and some back chat to the ref allowed Harding to covert the penalty awarded to Burnham.
The remainder of the game saw Burnham defending as Frome tried to chase the game. However strong tackling from Tom Wall and Mike Howarth saw Burnham only concede one late try. A great result for the team. Well done boys!
Next week Burnham have a week off. They return the following week to take on league leaders Morganians.
