A disappointing day for Burnham with no real application, drive or desire to seize the iniative.Throughout the game Burnham’s trademark scrummaging was at it’s usual superiority, but they failed to capitalise on it and a combination of erratic passing, poor tackling and dismal marking gave Teignmouth the opportunity to reap the rewards.Burnham played with the wind in the first half but apart from a smart break from Piper before releasing to Ross McKechan to score,Piper converted, followed by a penalty try,Burnham appeared unable to move up a gear, subsequently handing the impetusto Teignmouth to run in five tries,at times with comparative ease,to run out comfortable winners at 32-14.If Burnham have serious aspirations to reach a higher level then they must take advantage of their best asset, even if it means playing a dour game to gain the upper hand.Burnham face Taunton away on Sunday in the somerset cup 2-30 pm kickoff.
